Windows Vista Thomson Speedtouch 330 (ST-330) BETA Drivers! - 20/03/2007 10:23:35 Here is the 4.1 / 4.01 beta driver as sold on Thomsons website. I think its UK specific "UK variant CD". Even better! Download the FINAL VERSION: vista41a.exe. Mirrored as speedtouch website was plop slow. Older filename ST330UKVistaDriver.exe. Source: speedtouch.co.uk and speedtouch.co.uk. or the older beta: ST330Beta41.rar - Requires winrar to extract. Enjoy. I am sharing this because I think its unfair they make people pay for this ... they should support their products for free! Please tell your friends who also need this. If you want to order the CD you can do Here. ![]() Comment on 20/03/2007 16:57:20 by elmo: thx a lot Comment on 20/03/2007 20:15:09 by Mark: Cheers, hope this works! Comment on 20/03/2007 22:07:55 by Lithiyum: woo hoo goes to test thx :) Comment on 20/03/2007 23:09:12 by ca-ll1: thx, u roxx! Comment on 21/03/2007 13:23:37 by Lithiyum: *sighs* doesn't work with speedtouch usb though :( Comment on 21/03/2007 13:33:21 by Mark: It worked for USB for me Lith, i had some problems though, but that was to do with VISTA not recongnising the USB modem properly (getting one red light, on the off chance you have the same prob you need to roll it back before you tryed any of the modem software then you should get at least 1 green). Big Huge Giant thanks again for uploading this, it ended my four hour headache! Comment on 21/03/2007 14:39:35 by Laura: Great!!! You are the best!!!! I'm from Italy and I cannot order the cd becouse thomson send the cd only in UK. Sorry for my English! Thanks a lot!!!! Comment on 21/03/2007 19:26:48 by Dave: Doesn't work on the x64 version. Looks like I'll have to wait for the official release. Cheers though! Comment on 21/03/2007 19:58:28 by waz: hi mate still getting the red light flashing the program doesnt run as a file.you click on it and it explores the file giving you all the system datas and files as i cant connect to the internet at home its a bit hard to find info if you could put a step by step guide it would be fantastic cheers if you cant anyway it was very genorous of you to upload it for us! Comment on 21/03/2007 20:05:05 by Tom: You will need to extract everything in the RAR file to a directory (using WinRAR) and then tell windows to look for the driver in there. So far I have not yet used the disk but I will post any complicated instructions when I do (Friday). Comment on 21/03/2007 20:59:58 by calka: thanks very much been looking for this now for 3 days seen the 1 on the website but i thought i would wait until somebody nice like yourself was willing to share once again thanks. Comment on 21/03/2007 21:21:41 by Dan: You are a lifesaver. Modem working fine. Initial problems with vista not recognizing the usb modem. Vista insists on looking for a wireless router. People will need to enable the usb port for the modem prior to using the driver software. Vista seems to make life more difficult than it should be!! Comment on 21/03/2007 23:43:32 by Kevin: Thank you you are a star.... Comment on 22/03/2007 10:23:08 by zannad: Thank a lot. I was thinking of selling my Thompson for a decent router. I guess this version is not compatible with Vista x64?! OK get that router then. Thanks anyway. Comment on 22/03/2007 11:01:08 by Gary: Hi. Obtained the CD like the sucker I am - software installation hangs when asked to connect modem to USB port. Vista immediately pronounces 'Hardware id error - Windows has failed to recognise component connected to your Speedtouch 330' ?? This continues to be posted until machine is rebooted. I've reinstalled 4 times, connected to various USBs on the machine all without success. Perhaps I am not activating the USB correctly prior to connection as Dan mentioned. What is the sequence of events precisely to achieve this? I've sent 2 questions to Speedtouch 'support' but they haven't reacted so far - unlike the speed with which they obtained money from me for this dubious software. Comment on 22/03/2007 11:55:34 by Tom: Annoyingly it is Beta so if it doesnt work its all part of the beta process. I wont have used this until tomorrow evening (UK Time) so cant give you any pointers as yet. Comment on 22/03/2007 12:25:46 by Gary: Thanks Tom - appreciate it. Yes, I concur with your views about beta...but there is a world of difference and expectation when you have to pay to receive something - Thomson crossed that line when they didn't provide it as an immediate free download saying 'hey we have something available - it's beta so it MAY not work'. Cheers. Comment on 22/03/2007 12:27:23 by Tom: Good point - its really stupid how they dont provide a download! Comment on 22/03/2007 14:48:53 by Peter Phillips: Nice one, thanks for being a people's champion! Comment on 22/03/2007 19:42:47 by Robby: Tnx Tom... Here in Italy this beta version can instal the modem correctly but no connection is possible... :( Comment on 22/03/2007 19:43:24 by Tom: Hi Robby, You could try changing the phonebook.ini file if it exists (and allows you to change it) so it uses the correct VPI/VCI for your country. Good luck Comment on 22/03/2007 22:13:27 by Lithiyum: tried again many battles.. the install keeps telling me to plug in my st usb modem *sigh* Comment on 23/03/2007 19:44:05 by Paul: Me too - got the disc (they charged and sent two) software loads, but when I plug in the modem, nothing but a red light. My ISP (bulldog) have no answers. Any advice anyone? Comment on 23/03/2007 20:27:41 by Tom: Worked fine at my one today - They also had the older divers installed and it didnt have a problem.. asked me to plug the modem in and off it went. Have you checked if there is a "bad" device showing in device manager and if so - delete it and then reinsert the modem. Comment on 23/03/2007 21:20:19 by lespaceinvader: thank you very much, been looking all over for this driver much appreciated Comment on 24/03/2007 07:41:02 by Chris Donne: By the way I forgot to thank Tom for posting the fix in the first place, so thank you Tom, I hope my notes might be useful. Chris. Comment on 24/03/2007 07:44:58 by Chris Donne: Oh dear, even I ma confused now, my first post with the interesting bits produced a result that said "Thank you, your message will be on the site soon" (Or similar) 2nd PS appeared instantly andI don't know where thisis going to go... Anyway have a good weekend and get your Alcatel going... Comment on 24/03/2007 10:55:00 by Chris Donne: Hi, Background to this story is I had a new Dell delivered today with Vista & IE7 installed, everything ok apart from the internet (Via D-link DSL504T) pages taking 4-5 mins to load even from the IIS machine at the other end of the desk. I found something on Google that suggested most router manufacturers were not doing what Bill had told them, hence the slow down, the workaround looked a bit complex for a trial job so I decided to try my old green Alcatel modem, It is a Speedtouch but dont think it is the 330, Vista said it had installed it butI couldn't find anywhere to enter username/password, it had also said it was PPoE and didn't give me an option to change it to PPoA, so gave up on that one. More Googling brought me here, tried the download (Don't forget to Unrar) and installed it, results were confusing, first it said it had connected then it dropped off and wouldn't connect again, I was about to give up (Which I hate doing) but decided to look and see if I could find any settings that might need changing. Now bear in mind I have only had Vista for six hours and haven't got the hang of it yet but if you find your way to "Network Sharing Centre" you should see a "Connection" that says "My Speed Touch 330"... click "View Status" then "Properties" underneath "Connect Using" click "Configure" then click all three tick boxes and in the middle where it says "Channels to use" change the default value of 1 to 38 Then try to connect again, first time it coughed second time it connected and has done ever since. As far as my initial problem goes this has more or less proved a point, 8 out of ten pages now load normally, the other two are still slow, so whilst I have not cured my problem I have proved that these drivers will work with Vista,IE7 and the old "Green Frog type of Alcatel modem, mine was supplied by Freeserve about 4/5 years ago. As far as the number 38 goes I think that is the Virtual Channel Identifier, that number is I think for the UK, other countries are likely to use a different number. Generally I think your ISP will give you two values, VPI and VCI which I believe for the UK are 1 "Virtual Path Identifier" and 38 "Virtual Channel Identifier"... Who knows?? I'm only a Plumber not a Scientist but I hope this might help someone. On another note, I have only posted these notes as a result of not having to go through the rigmarole of Signing Up just to leave a comment that might help someone, well at least I hope I don't have to ... All the best and I hope you get it working. Chris Donne Comment on 24/03/2007 10:56:04 by Tom: Your comments were picked up by the anti-spam filter for me to moderate :) Thanks for the comments - I have to zoom out now but will read the longer one later today. Comment on 24/03/2007 12:42:11 by Tom: Hi Chris, Excellent - nice to know they allow you to change the VPI and VCI without having to get hold of the specific ini file (as per the old drivers)! And even nicer to know they work with the Green Squashed Frogs! Excellent as I have two sitting around. So to the comment from the Italy person above.. try finding that VPI / VCI Configuration under the Network connections area. thanks for the comments again Chris.. I also hate having to sign up to post comments so this site is totally open - apart from the minor spam filtering effort which caught you ;) Comment on 24/03/2007 14:04:53 by Ed: Thank you. I really appreciate this. I agree with you too; why should someone have to pay for support on their product? Comment on 24/03/2007 14:11:15 by Tom: The only argument I can think of is Thomson sold their product to the ISPs on contract that the ISP's support hardware issues and driver problems. They possibly didnt factor in having to directly support driver download capacity for the hundreds of people who get Vista? Whatever their excuse is.. I still find it weak that they dont offer this beta as a download. Comment on 24/03/2007 19:17:55 by Chris Donne: Just as a matter of interest I have cured my slow loading pages now, nothing to do with router or the modem in the end, just turn the McAffee phishing filter off.... Comment on 24/03/2007 19:36:35 by Tom: Theres a surprise :) - McAfee and Norton are expensive junk. Get a decent AV.. NOD32 or AVG if you want FREEEE. Comment on 24/03/2007 19:48:34 by Jade: AVG is win, it works better than the "expensive junk" and you can have it for "FREEEE"! Comment on 25/03/2007 02:04:19 by Cyber Dave: Thanks. Will be trying this next week when I reinstall the business version. I can't believe they want to charge for a beta driver. a download link wouldn't be too much to ask for. Comment on 25/03/2007 07:06:41 by Chris Donne: Just a little clarification on the Thomson settings, I didn't find a seting for VPI only VCI. Even though I have solved my slow loading problems and router is now ok I went back to the Green Frog tonight to double check it still worked and it didn't (Dismay) I had to uninstall via device manager and plug the frog back in again, Vista reset it and it said it was ready to go, VCI had gone back to 1 so I changed it to 38 again and tried to connect, same as before it needed two attempts, I don't know why but after that it ran for a couple of hours without problem. On the AV front, it was a new machine from Dell, came preinstalled with McAfee otherwise it would not have been there, I didn't zap it because it was new and had 36 months updates free (Tight Yorkshireman) On my other machines I have had Norton but that is getting troublesome, as Norton expired I have been replacing with AVG (Didn't like it, now gone) Nod32 (That's not bad) and what I think is the star of the show - Avast - That seems absolutely A1 and was recommended to me by some IT pro's in Stockport. Even the bloke who tells you every day that "Your virus database has been updated" has such a nice voice I think he should work for the BBC, Im sticking to that on the other machines for the forseeable future, it's also free but I have been thinking of contributing because it seems so good for a freebie. Anyway time for bed said Zebberdy, spose I'll fall into your spam trap again but never mind All the best, Chris Comment on 25/03/2007 07:12:07 by Chris Donne: . Hmmm missed the spam trap, I must be on the elite list now !!! Comment on 25/03/2007 09:18:15 by Zaffran: thx a lot Comment on 25/03/2007 09:35:26 by Dave: Thanks for this cant believe they want to charge us for it Comment on 25/03/2007 16:21:52 by bulldog user: thank man i was looking 4 this as i just install visa on my pc and when i found the costing to give vista cd i find low they should provide for free thanz man Comment on 25/03/2007 16:23:43 by Tom: In English? Comment on 25/03/2007 22:01:36 by linny: n1 hope it works Comment on 26/03/2007 13:02:08 by Jim: I've been looking for ages for the vista driver. Spent hours of wasted time trying to get other so called patched versions from the web to work. Its works 100%. A Gold medal goes to a real hero. Comment on 26/03/2007 13:31:00 by Jade: Yes, Tom is a hero.. that's why I married him =P Comment on 26/03/2007 15:48:05 by Paul: thanks, they should of let you download of they web site Comment on 26/03/2007 19:43:42 by Andy: Thank you!!! Comment on 27/03/2007 07:26:39 by Salem: i contacted my ISP here in egypt they told me that VPI & VCI here are 0 & 35 Where can i enter those numbers i have succsesfully installed the drivers but my problem is to setup a connection thats compitable with my ISP?? Comment on 27/03/2007 09:05:40 by Tom: Same here in Kuwait. Installation is good and two green lights on. Will not connect, fails at user name and password prompt. My VPI and VCI should be 8 and 35 but cant find anywhere to enter the values. Comment on 27/03/2007 15:49:55 by : Thanks a lot! Comment on 29/03/2007 17:40:52 by salem: come one someone please help us ? where to enter VPI & VCI Values in windows Vista Comment on 29/03/2007 18:10:48 by sandip: You're a legend! Comment on 30/03/2007 09:58:22 by Gary: Hi. I am pleased to report that I finally resolved my 'hardware id' issue with the beta driver following Tom's reflection that he left his old driver et al installed first (I had previously uninstalled the old 330 driver before attempting the install of the 4.1 driver)and it was then I was hitting the Vista 'Hardware ID' error. This time I simply installed the new software and drivers over the existing stuff with the modem still attached and, hey presto, like magic the new install immediately recognised the modem and successfully completed the installation. A little bit of tidying up to remove shortcuts and network connections to the old dialup (ADSL) connection and all looks dandy...I no longer hit the 1024 hardware error that used to plague me with the 330 driver either. Excellent. Obviously I do have a life beyond modem installation but this was pleasing to me. PS None of this is any thanks to Thomson, who despite about 5 submissions from me to their 'support' site have yet to even acknowledge me and/or my issue. Given that this is meant to be a 'beta' release (i.e. supposedly open for feedback) the whole process thus far seems frankly laughable. Anyway, cheers Tom - you've been a great help. Comment on 30/03/2007 12:50:50 by Tom: Woot :) Glad my "install story" helped :) Thanks for all the comments.. Thomson - WE WIN! J00 L00se. Comment on 30/03/2007 12:51:59 by Jade: Sounds to me like they call it a beta only because they don't want to support it, not to actually treat it like a beta. Comment on 30/03/2007 15:34:03 by Tom: What!? That guide has nothing to do with A) Windows Vista or B) Speedtouch modems! Comment on 30/03/2007 16:01:47 by Jim: In Vista run the connect to the internet wizard, Use that link only if you are having problems with your speedtouch modem and dont know where to put your values. its only an example on how to input your VPI & VCI values in the internet wizard. Comment on 30/03/2007 20:24:38 by Matt: thanx...ill be doin the same if i ever get connected! thanx again! Comment on 30/03/2007 21:03:36 by Jim: When you run the internet setup wizard in Windows Vista you put the VPI & VCI where it asks for dial up number after your username and password. 0,35 or 0.38 depending where you are. Comment on 30/03/2007 21:33:14 by salem: i did enter the numbers but it doesnt work only in XP it does but in VISTA it doesnt Comment on 30/03/2007 21:58:24 by Tom: Ive never ever seen a VCI / VPI Input box like the one in the pdf you posted - looks 3com specific to me :| Comment on 30/03/2007 22:08:04 by Jim: Ensure you have the speedtouch 330 drivers loaded first. Create a new named dialup with your usual username and password and put the VPI & VCI in the dialup number box. This will pick up your loaded drivers and run ok. Comment on 30/03/2007 22:11:42 by Tom: Oh I see.. as in have 0,38 in the dialup number field? I dont see how the PDF is any use.. and if so - its too confusing to be of use to "normal people" because it will confuzzle them with "what.. I dont see any "plug your hardware in now" dialog box". Also as an aside: I dont think the 0,38 (vpi, vci) trick in the dialup box is valid any more - remember it from the old old days but recently Ive found I can slap anything into the dialup boxes (and some speedtouch dialup setup disks even set the number to the customers own phone number!). Comment on 30/03/2007 22:39:22 by Jim: Sorry Tom, you are right the PDF is not really much use. Just trying to help the guys not knowing where the (vpi, vci) goes. Im using the method I mentioned right now and its working ok. Comment on 30/03/2007 22:44:51 by Tom: k :) Maybe I will play around next time I am on a Vista / Speedtouch setup. Thanks for the comments! Comment on 31/03/2007 11:26:23 by salem: nothing helped me but i thank everyone who tried to help and again thankinging you in arabic "Shokran" Comment on 31/03/2007 11:28:35 by Mark: Thanks for sharing the driver. It worked for me first time! I bought a dell laptop with vista on and installed the driver that you provided. It did install and then asked me for my username and password that I use to connect, it then started to connect but Vista said there was a problem with the software and vista had to stop the software working. I close all the windows and opened up IE and I was on the net! One thing that is confusing is that I didn't have to put the phone number in, which for pipex is 0, 38. Comment on 31/03/2007 21:30:55 by David: To me the same happened as with Mark. But in the end, I was connected to the internet. Oh, the default dial number is 0. Is that supposed to be correct? Comment on 31/03/2007 22:31:25 by Dany: To change VPI/VCI I suggest the following url: http://www.speedtouch.net.nz/changeVpiVci.htm Bye. Sorry for my English! Comment on 31/03/2007 22:57:22 by Tom: Thanks for that :) Wonder if its the same in Vista - I think they have junked the phonebook / phonebook.ini method for this version.. Anyway - as I dont run a speedtouch I cant confirm if that registry key exists. Comment on 01/04/2007 13:26:55 by Mark: It works for me using pipex with the telephone number as 0 but it also worked when I changed the number to 0,38. So it must know where to dial from the domain in the username i.e. pipex. Comment on 01/04/2007 16:31:45 by Roly: Thompson should have it avialable as a free download. Thanks Comment on 03/04/2007 00:37:58 by sam: tiscali technical support lie to me saying it should work with the cd they supplied (with the xp drivers) and i should pay P&P for the new CD (with vista drivers)! Thanks so much for making this download available. Comment on 14/05/2007 10:56:29 by Josh Mortimer: Hey can some one help me please: Basically i got a new Dell computer with Vista, groan, and i had to buy the new Speedtoch/thomson cd for my internet to work. it was working great, but then i had trouble with my computer and had to uninstall and reinstall the cd. The problem now is that i sued to load onto the website by clicking on the Internet Exporer logo, whioch would bring a page up saying not connected to teh internet, i would then lick on the 'go' logo next to the web address, whoch would bring a new small window. In this window i would select MyISP and click dial, which would work. However after reinstalling the software, it now doesn't appear. i have a MYISP logo on my desktop which automtically appeared the first time i used the software, which when clicked on, says: Myisp cannot be found.' can anyone hep me please? Comment on 21/05/2007 14:12:03 by Josh Mortimer: No worries sabout helping me, as above, i have invested in wireless instead, with Netgear. got it working first time. Thanks for info though, very useful. Comment on 07/06/2007 21:25:07 by Mick Saunders: I tried their drivers on winXP 64 bit. If you have 64 bit windows... ...your screwed. I now have a d-link eternet modem after all the agro. Pity I did not find this site 3-4 months ago :( Thumbs up guy! Kudos to you for what you are doing for everyone else. Comment on 27/07/2007 23:13:36 by Perostek: I found a solution on another site but can't find it again. Basically it goes like this: Download the older beta from the link above and extract to a folder. Right click on teh installer, choose properties and select compatibility mode and tick windows server 2003. Double click on the installer and it works perfectly for me. What a ball-ache though! Comment on 16/08/2007 03:08:14 by vali: thank you very much for this driver.I didnt know where to find this driver for vista Comment on 27/09/2007 19:33:27 by simon: i need speedtouch 330 modem drivers so i can update so i can use my broadband i have vista which one do i use im not very computer minded help please Comment on 27/09/2007 19:36:12 by Tom: If you are in the UK you can go to www.speedtouch.co.uk and get the latest software by going to Support then selecting USB 330. Tom Comment on 10/10/2007 17:46:24 by : Hi, a Vista and perhaps USB/PC problem (maybe). I have downloaded Vista41C.exe from TalkTalk website so I can install on Vista (I have tested modem on WinXp - no problem). I deinstalled All related softwate for SpeedTouch 330 ADSL modem. Installed software and driver. It then said "plug in modem for Windows to detect and install drivers" - nothing happened, eventually timed out. It obviously didn't think this modem was plugged in to the USB port (I tried several). This is a new-ish machine Dell (6 months old). I get the permanent flashing red light when the modem is plugged in to the PC... Any ideas what to try next - is it possible Vista has loced out USB devices? Is that what happened? Tom Comment on 10/10/2007 23:20:15 by GeorgeB: I suspect so (it was a friend), how do I completely clean out the drivers, as I have deinstalled the software and drivers already, but perhaps a residue? Comment on 10/10/2007 23:22:13 by Tom: I never worked it out on the customers computer which I had attempted to put the XP drives on.. in the end I found a redundant ethernet adsl router and chucked that under their desk instead and put it all down to "experience". But as I said earlier - all the other "clean" installs I have done - worked perfectly! Lame. Comment on 20/10/2007 16:09:22 by Fabio: u r great ! sei grande! Comment on 21/10/2007 11:26:19 by irwin: I spent hours on the phone with outsourced tiscali.co.uk techreps, who for whatever reason refused to believe that I was running vista. They even instructed me to click the start button, click run, then type "whiskey-indigo-november-victor-echo-romeo", press enter, and describe what I see on the screen. After reporting that a magical box had appeared, indicating that I _was_ infact running vista build 6000, they would become disconcerted and put me on hold. Always for exactly two minutes. As I was walked through the installation process and failing every time, they told me that my issue was being 'escalated' and that a supervisor would call me between the hours of x and y. No supervisor ever called me, and when I called back to tiscali two days later, I learned that this new outsourced techrep would have to run me through the installation process again. :P For amusement, I would reply to her instructions with, "whiskey-tango-foxtrot" at least twice before moving on to the next futile step in this process. To make a long story a little longer, I gave up hope, plugged my slowtouch330 back into my old laptop where it worked ok and went back to surfing You* videos until it dawned on me that the installation disk I got with the modem probably didn't support vista. So I whipped out the ol google and searched for "speedtouch 330 vista" looked at the speedtouch site, hit the back button, scrolled down, found this page, hit it up, read the comments, and downloaded the driver to my digital camera. Then I put the SD card in the SD hole on my box copied it unzipped it, executed it, and at the end of the wizard, I saw those beautiful words: You are now connected to the internet Thanks a lot dude! Comment on 21/10/2007 12:26:57 by Tom : Glad this was of help :) Comment on 02/12/2007 22:21:41 by Gaz: their website is down!! crappy support! Thanks for you, your a star! Comment on 02/12/2007 22:26:56 by Tom: Oh yes.. so it is.. Take note that my one may not be the newest version they have published.... but has worked flawlessly with all my installs (APART from the one where I attempted to install the XP Driver first) Comment on 04/12/2007 20:59:00 by Lewis: Hello all. I have had Pipex broadband for about 5 months now and it was working fine up until 2 weeks ago. Basically the Speedtouch symbol in the system tray said the "ADSL line is down" - this had happened occassionally for an hour or so since I have had it, but it was like this for a good week. I called Pipex (now tiscali???) and they said it was because I need the Vista driver installed, (why not send me that in the first place pipex?)despite not changing any settings and it working fine beforehand. I downloaded it from another computer and tried to install it on this one after uninstalling everything pipex/speedtouch related. This did not work, as to finish installing the driver, you need to synchronise the DSL line (as far as I know). I tried this about 20 times and it failed each time. The ADSL green light would begin to flash just when I am asked to enter my log in details for pipex, therefore stopping it from synchronising. I have now managed to trick it though. When I am asked to enter log in details (and thus the green ADSL light begins to flash) I opened a second driver install. This made the light stay green without flashing and allowed me to finish the installation. I have now managed to connect to the internet, but it is meant to be upto 8meg, however it only connects at 192.0kbps. ARGH! Anyone know why this is? I would like to avoid calling pipex as they are useless to be honest. Comment on 04/12/2007 21:49:05 by Tom: Hi Lewis, Sounds like phone line problems - have you got a Sky box or phone plugged in without a filter? [most common cause]. Or.. if you think your internal phone sockets are all "filtered" up .. then pick up a phone and dial 17070 and press option 2 for quiet line test - can you hear noise on the line? Feel free to email me.. lewishelp@sioned.info Comment on 08/12/2007 00:43:11 by djw: The drivers work for Vista x86 (32 bit) but not for x64. The x64 XP drivers on XP x64 didn't work for me either so it's x64 thats the problem. The BT HomeHub braking after a few months has now left my new x64 PC internet-less. Both products are made by the cheap and lazy bastards at Thomsom. Comment on 05/01/2008 16:54:02 by SL4T: I managed to make my ST330 USB modem work in Vista 64-bit without any new drivers. All i did was: -copy all contents of the ST330 installation CD (XP 32-bit) to my hard drive. -right-click on the setup.exe file and chose "run in XP compatability mode". -fully installed without any problems. then again right-click on SpeedTouch desktop short cut and run in compatability too....connected. so a new modem/router is not required after all :D Comment on 06/01/2008 12:28:52 by Venton: DJW, I managed to get them working on x64 vista using the following method: Download the older beta from the link above and extract to a folder. Right click on the installer, choose properties and select compatibility mode and tick windows server 2003. Works fine on mine now. UNPLUG your ST-USB/330 modem. Using Windows Add/Remove Programs un-install the previous driver. Install the Vista Update. PLUG in your modem when prompted by the installer, and not before. This is confirmed as I use different addresses for each site I visit. Watch out people.. someone naughty works at Thomson! Comment on 14/04/2008 21:00:19 by Tom: The people who run Thomsons store is DSLShop / netlink? So they are the ones who have the leak. Works like a dream. First time. Wonderful. Comment on 21/07/2008 11:24:59 by Poline: thanks, you're great! Comment on 21/07/2008 11:29:22 by Tom: No worries - I notice the file has become near impossible to find on Thomsons website. Just installed your copy and it worked! I can't find the dial-up dialouge box to dial up, but if I take out my USB, my PC detects it, and brings a dialouge box. Thanks again! Comment on 19/12/2008 22:34:29 by help: Lots of people have mentioned above that they get vista not detecting their modem, plz help!! Comment on 02/01/2009 17:18:49 by Ted: I have had a problem with Vista x64 not detecting my modem. I tried all of the solutions mentioned above, and on Tiscali web site. None of the them helped. In a final attempt I un-installed ESET 64 bit version and discovered this was the culprit. Note - you need to reconfigure the network connection and select the newly recognized modem, once the machine has rebooted. Comment on 08/03/2009 15:22:35 by fahim: this speedtouch software/driver does not work on my vista computer. it gets to the dsl sycnchronize stage and says that it can't connect(gets to 51% then fails to connect) i've tried all the tips given by the software(like to reconnect usb etc.) but still does not work. really need help, if anyone can help please do. thanks for reading and replying. p.s got speedtouch 330 with eclipse broadbrand sevice Comment on 08/03/2009 15:26:57 by Tom: I tried it yesterday on a brand new install of Vista and it also failed... I wonder if newer installs (SP1?) of vista cause the speedtouch installer to fail again. IMO.. time to get a router instead! Comment on 16/03/2009 09:51:10 by ceebee123: After much mucking about with the new Speedtouch version 4 disc (sent free by Virginmedia)I finally managed to get VISTA to connect after ditching the disc. I downloaded Speedtouch drivers from the internet and now my Speedtouch 330 is working. Only problem is that it does not remember my password despite my ticking the box to remember the passwork. So I have to put in my password every time I want to connect to my ISP. Any suggestions how I can avoid having to put in my ISP password all the time ? Comment on 27/05/2009 00:47:56 by : install speedtouch b4 u install any other software Comment on 12/08/2009 09:41:58 by Portmanteau: Thank you very much for this let's hope it works. Comment on 16/08/2009 14:02:52 by Sammylou: Grrr I am so annoyed. I too installed speedtouch on my new computer with Vista. It worked fine like Ceebee said, in the beginning, until the SP1 was installed then it didn't want to know and now won't let me find and completley uninstall the old programs in order to start again. I have given up and now going out to get a different modem.... Comment on 11/06/2010 14:42:51 by David: Found this on the Technicolor website (seems to be the new Thomson): http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/home-networking/dsl-fiber-products/dsl-modems-and-gateways/windows-vista-support Somewhere in the middle of the page you find this link: http://www.thomsontelecompartner.com/dsl-modems-gateways/products/Vista/ZZMT4.103.iso Hope it helps Ciao Comment on 13/06/2010 08:20:34 by mikebroom: Thank you very much for the vista driver for the thompson 330.
